Gallery Wrap Giclée Canvas Photographic Print
These vineyard pyres hold a lot of fascination for me. When vineyard blocks are retired, they’re harvested one last time, then bulldozed into these pyres – wires, vines, posts and all – and the naked fields are covered in straw to prevent erosion. Then, on a clear day sometime between October and February, the pyres will be set alight. After the fire has consumed the vines, the metal is recovered from the ashes and melted down. And in the Spring, the fields will be planted with new vines… I find something solemn and sacred about them.
Printed on Kodak Endura silver based photo paper, then bonded with high pressure and heat onto museum quality canvas with Lustre finish coat to protect the surface of the print.
